Duane Jones

Glitterai_Duane (Duane Jones) is a Bermuda born designer/artist living in Halifax Nova Scotia. He first caught the writing bug while working as Art Director and sometimes writer for a Halifax based magazine called Nxet. By 2006 Nxet Magazine folded, forcing him to put all of his energy into design. By early 2009 he started to realize that he had an obsession with hip hop rivaled only by friends of his who rapped or made beats. He put that obsession to use by starting a blog focusing on hip hop, art and design.

Duane was exposed to hip hop at an early age but in the 80’s and 90’s, dancehall and reggae ruled the radio in Bermuda. It wasn’t until a friend handed him a bootleg copy of the first Bone Thugs -n- Harmony album that he latched onto hip hop and he’s been hooked ever since. He likes a wide range of sounds and considers his taste in hip hop to be pretty eclectic. Some of his favorite albums of all time include but aren’t limited to Jedi Mind Tricks – Violent By Design, Bone Thugs -n- Harmony – East 1999, Wu-Tang Clan – Wu-Tang Forever and Three 6 Mafia – Da Unbreakables. Duane currently writes for UGSMAG, Showoff Magazine and his own blog, Be Glitterati.
