About Us

UGSMAG’s main focus is Canadian hip hop, but we also cover the U.S. and International hip hop scenes. Our site covers independent hip hop of all types, leading readers to new artists they might not have otherwise discovered. To get a feel for the type of artists we cover, read a few of our interviews.

Start by filling out the contact form below, indicating your interest and why you would like to write for us. Attach your resume or relevant experience along with two clips of your work. For reviews, please keep them to approximately 200-500 words. We love to get to know our writers, so please also include a little info about yourself, where your from, etc.

What to Expect

You can always expect timely responses from the staff at UGSMAG, so let us know if you have any questions. For compensation, our goal is to provide payment to all staff writers but for now, that just isn’t possible. UGSMAG also gives writers a credible, respected byline as well as free swag such as CDs, etc.

What we Expect

If you are accepted as a staff writer for UGSMAG, we expect all reviews within seven days of receiving the materials. We are looking for review staff to write at least one review per week and feature writers to be able to contribute at least one interview per month. We also encourage writers to develop ideas for the site, thinking of new ways to make the site better for our audience.
