haha I know you were, I can kinda see how Aspire might rub some people the wrong way --- I remember trying to give him props after he got eliminated and he was all angry that he lost and complaining and shit so I just went back to drinking....but hey some people really like battling and take it personally, I haven't really seen a good battle since 8 mile came out. They're different now that's for sure.

whoever said its essentially a battle of who has the best jokes is on point. thats all it is these days. i think battling in this format is essentially dead. it used to be the only showcase for freestlye rapping. something else needs to be invented. i actually really enjoyed that freestyle comp at wild style wed where they gave each person a random subject. then its actually a true battle of freestyle skills.

It was better when flows/rhyme structure and delivery were factored into who won a battle. Nowadays battle mc's don't even need to be good rappers or have any type of flow, they just need to have jokes which to me is pretty bunk.

half the so called "battle" mc's nowadays can't even write a decent verse cause it requires more than just jokes. Scribble jam battles have been shitty for years now since Mac Lethal brought in the whole yelling angry punchline- pause-punchline-pause-punchline steeze with no flow.

they shouldn't even be called FREESTYLE battles anymore. Considering the top battle guys only freestyle like 10 percent of their verses. Gotta say though it's impressive how those guys string together the premeds with multi syllabic rhymes.

yeah aspire can definetly freestyle, i agree. everyones allowed crutches if you're actually freestyling these will no doubt occur here and there cause NOONE (besides juice for some reason) doesn't have them when they actually freestyle. i'm just referring to having an arsenal of premeds for any type of possible opponent as being wack which i don't think aspire does, he seems like he genuinely just freestyles all the time and has gotten real good at it as a result.

Fuck that. Everybody's shit is premeditated to a point. Nobody goes on stage without having some idea of what they're gonna say to the dude they're up against. I always know what punches I'm gonna use on somebody b4 I hit the stage but at the same time that doesn't mean I stayed at home practicing battle raps all night. If that's what a battle emcee wants to do, thats fine, but he just better hope he goes second, cuz most of those joke raps can be easily flipped... NOBODY's shit was all freestyle from the final 8. Tanner Lane and Touch were the only dudes truly off the top.

Theres no such thing as freestyle battles anymore... Everyone prewrites. You have to since everyone else does or no doubt you will lose.
I'm im Toronto now and joined their battle league and came to get down on WRC and shit. I had my first battle the other day and dominated this guy named lavish language, now I'm coming for kid twist. Battles should be the same rules set up. You can come with writtens but clever flips get bonus points. Even though everyone even just writes pre meditated flips as well.
Freestyle battling is dead. And aspire obvisouly didnt freestyle his string off edmonton pre lims by magic. Don't be so stupid.
Thats why cyphering is cool cause its just freestyling, no rep on the line or anything so you just groove. In battling you have to much to lose to only freestyle in a world where noone else does.
