  1. Shit. This guy is really hard to take seriously with his bitten flows and cliche video. He is neither illin nor a villian.
Kinda makes me think of an Andy Sandberg video. Plus he looks like spenny from kenny vs. spenny.
Whats with those guest appearances though? Crazy lineup.
    I’m not feeling this.

    1. DEFINITION—

      hater–

A person that simply cannot be happy for another person’s success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person.

Hating, the result of being a hater, is not exactly jealousy. The hater doesn’t really want to be the person he or she hates, rather the hater wants to knock some one else down a notch.

    2. I wouldn’t say he’s a hater. I mean everyone’s entitled to their own opinions, but this initial fedback is just a bit harsh.

    3. Hahaha. Hater? OK bud. Good work.
I think he sucks. He can do whatever he wants, I don’t care what it is, because I think he sucks… I don’t hold it against him. Do I hold the fact that you have sand in your vagina against you? Maybe a little. But I still don’t care.

  2. Looks and sounds like a rich kid who woke up one day, and decided to invest in an album featuring himself. He’s not Canadian is he?

  3. WTF? Yo man this herb ain’t got nothin’ on m boy J-Roc. Sunnyvale all up in this mutha! Nomesayin’? J to the R-O-C, Peace!

  4. ? Not sure why all the hate, been trying to work with Ivan for a minute. Shit is ill.

    1. hahahhahah dude, I just checked out your myspace and your “music”… you should probably check yourself before you go call out other people. I wonder who else you think is Bitch made? 2Mex? Cool Kids? Dilla? Dude that is some funny shit.

Learn how to rap then I might take your opinions more seriously.

    2. SWIFT:

You’re obviously Ives himself or a friend of his if you’re defending him to the point that you feel the need to peep my music and try and make an insult. Hahaha what does my music have to do with him being shitty? Not to mention how did you find it? I don’t advertise worth shit, don’t have a big following and I’m pretty lokey so you must have wasted a lot of time searching for me which is hilarious in itself. You’re a fucking baby cause people are on your boy’s jock….sorry lotsa people think this is wack, no need to take the criticism like a child. Everyone who peeped this thread had negative things to say about this guy’s shit besides my homie Chaps and the 1st time posters (who are so obviously all the same people) so that tells you that a lotta heads don’t feel this corny shit so just accept the criticism cause it was posted where the public can comment on it and if most people don’t dig what’s been posted and comment on it negatively you can’t get mad because you’re not getting the positive comments you falsely expected. Who cares what my music sounds like that’s not what’s up for debate here, it has nothing to do with this guy. Either way I would rip this little pussy to pieces. I mastered this fools rhyme style when I was 13 years old. Since you’re obviously down with the guy (or you actually are him) and you’re so confident that he’s a better mc why don’t you invite him to peep this thread cause I’ll go diss track for diss track with him and we’ll let the public judge who’s better.

    3. Don’t be such a dumbass. your fucking myspace profile is linked in your goddamn avatar. Maybe you obviously left it there so that when people do read your “insightful” comments they’d be curious to see what kind of goon was responsible for them. Sure as shit it’s some another hardcore underground white rapper spitting gibberish “complex flows” on top of his homie’s amateur hour beats.

BUT WAIT WAIT, your shit is obviously what REAL HIP HOP IS RIGHT? Ivan Ives is total trash.. why is that? Well the answer is obvious: Real hiphop is from white dudes in canada with their little barber shopped goatees and other blatantly borrowed styles from black culture. Real hip hop is also diss-rap. that’s all hip hop is and ever will be, is just fucking battle raps. I am glad Royal-T is here to police all the “corny” shit and remind us of what we should be enjoying…which is casio beats and ostentatious rhyme schemes that insult and belittle the listener. Thanks homie… for a second i was almost beginning to enjoy a dude, who didn’t pretend to be black, who had some interesting and new things to say and had beats that actually sounded like a musical, appealing, and enjoyable song… man for a second I LOST IT THERE… Let me know when your next album drops so I can stay on track.

    4. Ooooh Lordy! Yall done up and done it. You got Fresh to stop what he’s doing and get pulled into this? hahaha Lord help you lol

  5. just peeped the track and his flows and lyrics are even gayer than he looks. he’s tryin to flow like Lil Wayne and his fake accent is ridiculous when he was obviously raised in a rich suburb

    1. First off Royal-T shut the fuck down. Don’t even think about comparing Ivan Ives to that bitch Lil’ Wayne. At least Ives is man enough to not alter his voice the same stupid way every fucking song. Secondly if you consider Russia a rich suburb time to head back to history class kid. If you took a minute to think about the shit spewing out of your mouth and read into what he was all about then you wouldn’t have written that stupid comment.

    2. okay- so you are comparing Ives to multi million dollar rap mogul- lil wayne- that dominates the airwaves with nonsense words and voice modulation?
I Pray he dominates beyond that one day.The world of hip hop certainly needs a refreshing break from that kind of rap. Ivan’s lyrics have always been thought provoking-maybe he is a little out of your intellectual range? With 12 albums under his belt and Newspeak on the way, you can expect to be hearing a lot more from this talented and truthful artist in the near future. The production of this video proves that he is a force to be reckoned with. His growth as an artist has been and will continue to be exponential.
He has ALL the Skills to make it in this game.

    3. By the way, he uses voice mod IN THIS TRACK when he pitches his voice down for that SUPER AWESOME fat line. Who are all these new accounts? Ivan and crew?
Almost at 2,000 views boys, time to take over rap and bring it back to that realness…. cause Ivan is what the game NEEDS. Sawdust and eggos and shit.

Usually I dont get into this stupid juvenile boasting/bickering, but its just so easy with this one!!

  6. I’ve been following Ivan for a minute, and the last thing he is, is from a rich suburb. His early stuff is ssuper gritty and underground, he’s come a long way with his flow and everything else. I’ve seen a couple of his shows in LA and they were pretty dope.. People compare him to Asher Roth now but I think he kills that kid. Unfortunately for him though his image leaves him open to attack. Oh well. The second part of the song and video is pretty great

  7. fuck all u cock-faces. this cat Ives is really talented. i first heard him back in 07 and he has yet to disappoint. u cant compare him to to anybody cuz he’s doing his own thing. u cum tongues just think he sucks cuz it’s what you’re not used to. this is the future. prepare.

  8. Wow alot of jockers! I just wasted another 4 minutes of my life listening to this shit again, as I thought I missed something… AND IT STILL SUCKS!!!! Can any of you nut huggers even quote one dope line on this track??? A pat on the back and a cookie for the first one who can!!!!

  9. ^

The 16-bit/super nintendo line is pretty clever IMHO.

And I think the entire switchup beat verse can be quoted

“These are the life and times of the sick and heinous, it’s like we painted our picture so they could just frame us, everybody do, what they gotta do, but I gotta do the impossible so I’m the first to wake, the last to sleep. I’ve failed many times and I know not defeat I’ve made mistakes got back on my feet if you hate how I speak it’s an honor to me, see that’s why I am how I am now cus I don’t give a fuck dude, I’m the man now. I’m about to blow up and be a real a-hole put my friends and family all on payroll, If I say so you better lay low, haters getting heated up like they were eggos aren’t worth a peso and that’s that then, no please you can call me the captain. Don’t get caught up I’m a product my insides are made of sawdust, I don’t smile, I don’t laugh, I dont sign any autographs”

    1. Clever how? There is absolutely no wordplay in 16-bit line, other than the fact that he mentions Super Nintendo. Is there a dual meaning for 16-bit I’m unaware of?

The autograph verse isn’t horrible, but its bland and has been done many times by much better rappers. BTW, the fact that you can recite an entire verse, completely discredits you as someone I would even bother talking this over with.

I haven’t listened to any of his other shit, but this doesn’t make me want to and its definitely a bad look on whatever the fuck he’s trying to pull…

    2. ivan got his 16- AKA- his 16 bar verse ripped/bit by another rapper named mystic or something..after he released his track “got it”—– i think that’s what he’s referring to.
go ahead and check my ip bro- i have a vagina…and it does have sand in it- thanks to you.

  10. I like it. The video and song are sickly precise. On some fresh new tip.kinda dark and sexy….can’t wait for the new album!

  11. I am addicted to Ivan Ives’s cadence. I like the approach- this video is polished and pro! storyline reminds me of an old school Beastie Boys video- well done!

  12. some of you guys are out of your fucking minds. do you think capadonna from wu-tang would’ve been on his last record if he wasn’t legit? i mean, seriously.

you need to start diggin and get up to speed on all of ivan ives work. granted, you might not like THIS song but don’t let your mouth write a check your butt can’t cash.

    snap!

    1. Im sure Cap was more interested in co-signing this kid than the cheque he was getting. So much in fact, I bet Cap wouldn’t even accept payment and probably flew himself out to record the joint on his own dollar.

    2. Money can buy anything.
You can put a price on a virgin’s virginity as well as pay a hooker to fingerfuck your peehole.
      Fuck Money.

  13. Naturally, the more successful you become, the more people try to find reasons to bring you down. This track is solid; it’s got rhythm, it’s got melody, it’s gotta hook, it’s got style. It’s underground shit over a mainstream beat but I guess some people are just used to all the shit that’s made from their friend’s janky Triton Keyboard Sequencer.

  14. “I’m ill, you wanna know why? i’m real… other rappers are backwards, they lli.”

put that in your pipe and choke on a cock. haters.

  15. First of all, Canadians don’t know a damn thing about anything and their opinions should all be voided out. Secondly, with success comes hatred, jealousy, and bashing… and this is a clear case of what is going on here. At least he knows he’s making it, because people don’t talk shit about someone that ain’t got it.

    1. Canada holds onto hip-hop of days past but pretends to be down with the “new movement” kinda like how the US holds onto its socially oppressive past while fronting like they are down with new ways of thinking

  16. Okay this is kinda nuts. Anyways I like Ivan Ives quite a bit, not feelin his jockers though. This track is nowhere near as good as the following Ivan Ives tracks, “talking to girls”, “watching you”, “olivia josephs”, “life is a bitch rmx”, “came into my life”, and “didn’t even care”. So I would say don’t really judge him on this one track.

I am looking forward to hearing the rest of this album. He is like the Classified of America has a few really dope tracks on all his releases. Best comparison I can come up with. And fyi Royal T is one of the best around! Don’t mind my post keep the beef going.

  17. I think all these random posters are Ives himself. It’s all of their first posts ever on ugs and it just happens to be in this thread…… all of a sudden these fools show up when there’s an article on this joker which is obviously not a coincidence so either it’s Ives himself or Ives’ fraternity homies stickin up for this weiner.

Either way this guy is not a good rapper. I actually feel embarassed for him when I watch this video. It almost feels satirical as if this guy is some indy rocker hipster making fun of rap and trying (and succeeding) to discredit rap.

    1. what is this the royal T show-or what?
kay i get it- you hate the video- can’t stand the guy, and think he’s a shitty rich white rapper- i think we get it-

i have read all the comments and seriously i know this internet shit gets out of hand and people tend to type more then they would ever say to someones face- but seriously dude- you sound defensive , jealous and threatened.

As a fan of all different types of music- i have found ivan ives to be a genuine voice in a genre of music that is truly going to shit as far as the main stream goes…this independent artist has clearly ignited your fire-and maybe even inspired you-which is what true artists do-they inspire-they ignite-they evoke emotion.which you deliver with force so- bravo.

i find it ridiculous that you question that this artist actually has fans that would post on this thread to speak in a positive way about his work.clearly he is recieving international press so therefore probably has a fairly strong fan base.
the only satire i caught in the video is the voice modulation- clearly mocking the “lil wayne” shit you seem to think he is trying to mimic. But i guess that was a lil’ over your head…

      PEACE!

  18. Royal – T, it’s good that you posted a link to your stuff so we all know how credible your opinion is. I hope you’re not taking yourself too seriously. Your beats are like cheezeball casio steez.. your logo is really HARDCORE TOO, and you sound busta’s/twista’s/illbill’s bastard child. Keep grindin’ homie.

    1. I didn’t once post a link to my stuff you reatard. as matter of fact if you read what I said I said that ym stuff has nothing at all to do with this guys music

  19. I’m just gonna copy this

“You’re a fucking baby cause people are on your boy’s jock….sorry lotsa people think this is wack, no need to take the criticism like a child. ”

Into a notepad for future use. I’ve seen this had to be explained 1000 times.

  20. First of all, I do agree with the “Vinter” comment :”with success comes hatred, jealousy, and bashing” and I’d like to precise to “Royal T ” that this is not Ivan Ives writin this.

Been following Ivan Ives carreer since the Iconoclast release (an LP which deserves nearly 4 mics in da Source , I mean when The Source was a reference sumthing like 10 years ago), I’ve played his tracks several times in my radio show and I can assure you that he got fans and also that he’s not tryin to sound like Lil Wayne (!!!)

Ivan ives both got the flow & the rhymes + he ‘s makin dope vids for his tracks.

I don’t get the interest of so much hate in your comments Royal T, maybe it’s the way you handle your fustration (or something like that) over there in Canada, that’s not the way we do it in France.

    Fuck the Haters

UMMMM….ROYAL-T… ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS CLICK YOUR EFFIN’ NAME!!!!! You put the link in the post when you entered your name. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Ives on the up aside, your stupidity just made my morning and me feel a lot better about myself. Have a nice day there, lokey, ay?

PS – the interweb spreads. Viral marketing, Royal Lokey…it’s the age…get a clue!

  22. I’m just trying to see how all this works here, but as I understand it and according to your time stamps (see above or below) and feedback you judge a track BEFORE ‘peepin’ it? Do you do this with all tracks? How do you buy albums, by the cover alone? Just checkin’.

this guy is certified Bitch made. someone needs to beat this fool out of rap.

    Royal-T
    March 25, 2009 at 1:07 pm

just peeped the track and his flows and lyrics ….

    1. well actually by looking at the guy who’s rapping before I even heard him rap I was embrasssed for rap music. he looks like a flaming hipster that should be singing with some emo group….anyone can see that before listening.

  23. all these new random-named crotch riding posters that just popped up out of nowhere, that never existed prior to Ives being posted, make me hate this thread even more. This news bit should be deleted along with there annoyingly defensive comments.

  24. all these justifications about how this ivan kid is “underground” and “real” doesnt change the fact that this song/video combination is corny and chauchy as fuck

  25. You know what? I’m sure there’s a way to track the IP addresses from these goofs. Guaranteed they’re all from the same computer (meaning same person). Anyways hurtabag had it right when he quoted this:

“You’re a fucking baby cause people aren’t on your boy’s jock…. Sorry lotsa people think this is wack, no need to take the criticism like a child. ”

On top of that what does my music have to do with anything? Nothing at all so what’s the point of bringing it up? I’m not the one with my video posted on a public website for feedback am I? I had Ives’ skills when I was a 13 year old kid, his rhymes are preschool and his flows are off beat and uncomfortable. And I reiterate:

I actually feel embarassed for I’ves when I watch this video. It feels satirical as if this guy is some indy rocker hipster making fun of rap and trying (and succeeding) to discredit rap.

All these random posts are a bad look for Ives not to mention the fact that everyone that isn’t this random poster defending this fag is hating on this cornball bullshit music. Anyone that reads this shit is gonna hate this little twarp rapper because of his fanbase alone. You’re so whiny and annoying that I wanna punch anyone that’s into this guys music in the face. You’re some whiny bitches that can’t take criticism.

  26. Is this a joke? I couldnt get thru the first 30 seconds. How can any 1 take this seriously. what a disgrace.

  27. this video= disney channel rap music. or nickelodeon rap music for little kids. this is what the Jonas brothers would sound like if they started rappin lolz. the only way to describe this is GARBAGE.

  28. I’m not a HUGE fan or anything, but I do think Ives has some great things to say. And I think taking personal approaches on how he looks is ridiculous. I thought hip hop, and everyone here presumably, had advanced past that. I also don’t think it’s out of the question that an artist of his stature has his fans looking the web for new stuff about him, stumbling upon this page, and defending his music. It happens all the time. Look at YouTube posts about 50 cent, eminem, and Lil Wayne for Godssake. The main point here is this is not his audience, my impression is a lot of girls also listen to his music, and from the general tone in here I’m assuming about 0% of the people posting have ovaries (literally)… on the figurative side I’ll leave that one open ended. There are too many whiny failed MCs getting angry in here and too many weird fans taking this too far. The only thing I agree with Royal-T about is doing an IP check, that would be a good move if anyone here can do that. Other than that, everyone needs to take a goddamn chill pill and let everyone do their own thing. If Ivan wants to rap in a helicopter with punchlines, let him. If royalt wants to rap all fast about weird underground shit, okay. It’s kind of ridiculous that this post has even gotten this many hits.

In another note: Paid Dues this Saturday!!!

  29. hahah, are these guys serious? You’re putting Ashton Kucher in the same category as Eminem, 50 cent, and Lil’ Wayne…hahah oh man.

Am I the only person who’s never heard of this guy before? He’s like a poor man’s Hot Karl.

I just showed this track to a bunch of chicks and all they did was laugh and ask if it was serious or a joke. I couldn’t give an honest answer cause I still don’t know.

  30. I love how the people who are defending him keep referring to how rap now is negative, or this Ivan Ives guy isn’t trying to be Lil’ Wayne. As if the only choices you have in rap are to be a Lil Wayne biter or make plastic-disney-rap. I’d listen to Royal-T over this guy any time and any place. And not only because Royal-T is a better rapper, but because he doesn’t come off as fake as Ivan Ives does.

For the guy who said that Ivan Ives is like the American Classified, that makes sense. I’m not a fan of Class either. At first thought though, I thought Ivan Ives was from Toronto. He reminds me of the white guy in the background of the last batch of j-Diggz videos, even though I don’t know what that guy does.

  31. Haha, don’t be mad cuz he’s in the copter.
    >:] HA!

There’s no question even from a fan that this isn’t his best track, not sure why he went this as a video

If you want some good Ives though really check this out

  32. I just checked those other tracks, they actually aren’t bad at all. To me he sounds just like Classified but his lines are a bit funnier. Don’t think I’d bump it on a regular basis but it’s not nearly as lame as this video.

  33. IP checks!? Are you guys that simple!?

You can sift through this bullshit by yourself. Just do what I did to show that its this hipster helicopter freak posting up under all these fake accounts…

Up above, “Swift” recounts pretty much this wankers’ whole verse. If this freak was so well known, GOOGLE would be able to search you in the direction of this kids attempt at hiphop. BUT! If you take a line of the rap, like say the line about Eggos. NOTHING COMES UP.

Try it for yourself, it’s fun. Try typing in ‘ANTI MYTH RHYTHEM ROCK SHOCKA’ and a bunch of Rage Against the Machine stuff pops up.

By typing in a line from “Ivan Ives” “rap song” and NOTHING showing up, it shows that this “Swift” knows Ivan’s raps’ verbatim. Coincidence??

Hating on Royal-T’s logo? Yeah, I hate it too. But, if I’m not mistaken, it’s about 5 years old. Which is a few months older than this Ivan schmuck. I feel that it’s some emo/screamo kid trying to infultrate hip-hop at some level. Then in a few months, we will see this mutant on some late night show, with Conan O’Brien asking “So, how’d you do it??”

Anyone who beLIEves this is authentic should A) Commit suicide B) Pick another subculture C) B then A. I haven’t been this confused since I seen Johnny Crack on Kenny vs Spenny.

  34. Not to keep this going any further than it has to, but those lyrics ARE on youtube. They probably don’t show up on google because I don’t think Ives is as big as RATM, that’s obvious.

    1. Yeah that wasn’t bad.
This video here, Villain, was a bad introduction. Really bad.
But – it is an introduction only by my own ignorance, as noyz did post that other video last year.
All of the other beef should keep going though.

  35. I got no problem with Ivan’s image…. I actually kinda dress similar to him sometimes, hair included. haha. People hung up on the typical “rap image” need to look past it. I think images like D-Sisive’s (refer to recently posted video) look rather ridiculous in comparison… XXXL shirts, lol, what’s the point in that!?

BUT, I just don’t think Ives’ rap style is anything special…. and he’s not really talking about anything. that’s it. my opinion. I like the “Fresh” dude better, personally.

    1. yeah, that’s true, he is fatter (and phatter), I didn’t want to judge based on his weight, I was just trying to make a point tho that not all rappers have to look/dress the same (which is stereotypically moreso XXL size clothing). Especially when we’re all trying so hard to be individuals and be unique in our own way, it just seems so backwards to look exactly like the next rapper.

Any image that’s out now is based on an images and styles from the past, they’re all influenced by other looks and sub-cultures, so I don’t see why that has to be part of the issue here.

Don’t really want to get into a redundant discussion here tho. cheerio!

  36. is this video a joke? please tell me it is, no one could be this bad and be serious. anyonyone that likes this either has a pussy or is gay./

  37. I agree with the guy who said this is what it would sound like if the Jonas brothers were rappers. LOL

  38. Not feeling this at all. It’s pretty corny.

It’s also tough to watch the video with that sneer and fake accent he’s got through the whole thing.

Oh…and note to who tried to bring up the Cap “co-sign”…it’s a well-known fact that duke has a drug problem and had been feeding it through rap. It’s also well known that you an artist doesn’t have to be feeling you to do a track with you.

    Pay to play…ain’t shit changed.

  39. i like this video more than his other ones, i dont like the one where he kills his ex girlfriend its too weird and depressing…. he looks young but urge told me hes older…. i like the meaning behind this one it is like he is selling his product and his soul to the girls in silver. and isnt cappadonna a cab driver?
