Uncle Howie/Fat Beats has just released a six-song sampler for Ill Bill’s latest album The Hour Of Reprisal, which is set to drop September 16th. That tracklist looks nuts. Spine Magazine posted track 5 a while back. While I “get it”, I don’t remember it being all that dope. On the flipside of that, I like “U.B.S.” It’s a fine homage.
I wonder if discussion here at UGSMAG of “White Nigger” will reach Riviera Regime proportions.

I was a big fan of The Future Is Now, and What’s Wrong with Bill. But I’m not sure about this cause Ill Bill on La Coka Nostra was Notso Ill Bill. Hope it’s good, tho.

I have no doubt this will be album of the year imo. I remember gripping Whats Wrong With Bill from the Virgin Mega store on Times Square, the disc was on rotation for months! So psyched!

Haha. Hey man. I like non-phixion’s shit and all but album of the year is one hell of a statement… That’s all I was pointing out. I often have a hard time ever deciding what my personal take is on album of year every year (ussually settle on about 5 albums that tie) and to think someone’s top choice is the new Ill Bill cd is just a little bit funny to me.
Also… In the video where he’s explaining what his goal/vision was for the album… dude can’t even talk… Do any of you have any idea as to what he was trying to explain with all that gibber gabber? I’ve watched the shit twice now and I’m like… huh?

Yeah album of the year, he is in my top five favorite artists, and I am really psyched for the album. To a fan of his work, it would be easy to see how they would think it would be the album of the year. To someone who is not a fan or as big of one, then maybe not.
Rap music, like all music is a form of art. To truly rate art is a personal preference, therefore its not like someone can be wrong when they have an opinion on ‘album of the year’

Yea. I’m not trying to hate really. I don’t think Ill Bill comes wack 90% of the time unlike his Riviera Regime cohorts. Just interesting to me that there are actually people out there who would call an ill bill lp their album of the year… that’s all.

“What’s Wrong With Bill?” was one of the top albums of that year; whichever year it was, same with “The Future Is Now”. He’s easily one of the best lyricists out right now - you are suprised people think he is a great rapper? I guess if you don’t like skilled rhyming coupled with poignant lyrics and tight technical flows than yah I could see why you might be confused.
I hope he isn’t too growly on this one though, I like his flow better when he flips it.
