Video for the second single from Sammus’ great new Infusion EP – out now.
“Mighty Morphing” is the second single from Ithaca, NY rapper, producer, and PhD student Sammus off her new EP, Infusion (3/25). The playful video, which draws clear inspiration from the visuals for Alanis Morissette’s 1995 hit, “Ironic,” finds the upstate MC partnering for the second time with director Jay Sprogell (Power-Ups) to reflect on all of the ways she defies cultural assumptions. Over twenty years after the release of Morissette’s “Ironic,” the lyrical and visual content of “Mighty Morphing” are fitting for an artist who has regularly discussed her early rock influences — and more broadly, one who seeks to earn her place in the annals of feminist music history alongside notable women performers and artists like Morissette.
